"15 Outrageous Facts About McDonalds"
↑This video focuses on 15 facts of McDonalds that are not commonly known by the public. I will state few of the facts that were mentioned in the video that I thought was either interesting or was shocked about.
First fact that a term called "McJob". The term "McJob" was printed in one of the famous dictionary, "Merriam-Webster" defying that the term refers to a low wage possession where anyone is eligible to master. I saw shocked about how a term that criticizes the McDonald workers exists and how the Merriam Webster putted this term in their dictionary. They were sued by McDonalds however they were released with no charge since they stated how they are just stating a "fact" not a criticism.
Second fact is the existence of a school called "Hamburger University". In this school, students are taught how to flip burgers and how to say "would you like flies with that?" in total of 28 different languages.
In the past, McDonalds has been sued by their customers numerous of times. One of the famous case is when 79 year old customer at one of the McDonalds in the United Stated spilled a hot coffee and caused her self to get a third degree burn. She sued McDonalds for her burn and as a result she was awarded half a million dollars. I thought this was ridiculous. Since it is not the company's fault that she got a third degree burn. It was her own action that led to her burn, therefore it does not make any sense that the McDonalds was charged for this.
Another fact was how the company makes some changes in their restaurant to adjust the environment of that country or a city. One of which is their famous logo. You may think that their logo is same throughout the whole world, however the company makes some changes in order to fit to the atmosphere of the city. For instance, the logo of the restaurants in Paris is white, the one located in Time Square is neon color and etc.
The Kahula Mocha Cocktail sounds delicious. Congratulations on turning 20...now you can legally drink such decadent beverages--at least in Japan.
ReplyDeleteI read your post about McDonald's with interest. Until recently, I thought the same as you do about the woman who sued McD after she spilled coffee which she had just bought there on her. However, I watched a news documentary about the woman (who has now died) and my opinion of her completely changed. The news about it was misreported by many newspapers and TV news programs so the truth was lost. McD had been serving coffee at extraordinarily high temperatures and the woman got such serious burns that she had to have skin grafts. McD knew that the temperature of their coffee could cause serious burns because lots of their customers were burned, but they didn't start to change their practices until this woman sued them. She didn't get millions of dollars, like the newspapers reported, but a much smaller settlement, which may not even have covered all of her hospital expenses. Sometimes the truth is complicated.
